La settimana scorsa sono stato a Londra a trovare un amico.
Visito Londra mediamente una volta all'anno.
Almeno negli ultimi 6 anni. E' la citta che conosco meglio fuori dell'italia.
Ho sempre avuto la foruna di essere sempre stato ospitato.
Pure questa ultima volta sono stato ospite.
Ma a differenza delle ultime volte sono stato ospite in una zona diversa. Ad est, per precisione vicino alla fermata della metro Old Street.
Di solito stavo ad ovest, South Kensington, Earls Court, oppure in centro, Piccadilly , May Fair.
Ma ad ovest mai. Come zona non la conoscevo e sono stato positivamente colpito e felice d'averla conosciuta.
Tra le varie zone scoperte (non le posso elencare tutte), c'è Candem Town.
Sapevo che sarei stato portato a vedere questo quartiere, ma non sapevo cosa era precisamente e cosa ci fosse. Qualcuno nel passato me ne aveva parlato, ma me lo aveva descritto come un mercato pieno di gente e non ero stato invogliato ad andare.
Questa volta visto la vicinanza da Old Street non c'è stato scampo. Sono andato.
E sono stato molto colpito un po deluso di non esserci andato prima. Totalmente inpreparato.
Camden Town si trova in prossimità di Regent's Canal, un canale costruito nei primi anni del 1800 per facilitare la comunicazione della parte nord di Londra con il resto del paese.
Nel passato Camdem Town era un posto pericoloso frequentato dai malviventi durante l'era vittoriana. E' sempre stato frequentato dagli immigrati irlandesi orientali ed ebrei.
Dagli anni 70 diventa un luogo trandy frequentato da artisti e studenti.
Oggi è un quartiere modaiolo molto turistico dove il mercato Camdem Market è la principale attrazione.
Dall'uscita della stazione della metro a Camdem Town si nota la fiumana delle persone che iniziano la loro eseperienza in questo luogo cosi particolare. Ci sono negozi e bancarelle che vendono sia suvenir che oggetti di abbigliamento e arredamento del tutto particolari, per esempio t-shirt con dei led luminosi che si accendono e spengono al ritmo di musica, o vestiti in pelle dark stile Neo(Keanu Reeves)nel film Matrix 2, vestiti vintage, vestiti da streghe o da folletti. Bhe inutile descrivere immaginatevi di tutto e di più e poi andateci.
Alla fine della via, (Camden High Street) in prossimità delle chiuse, inizia Camdem Lock, (non vi potete sbagliare c'è un murales gigante con scritto Camdem Lock, un mercato di dimensioni abnormi. Il mercato esiste dal 1973 ed è formato da bancarelle che oltre a vendere tutto ciò che è potrebbe essere presente gia nei negozi che vi ho descritto, vendono vestiti usati, artigianato prodotti multi-etnici, oggetti d'arte, modernariato, cappelli sui generis (ero molto tentato di comprarmi un classico cilindro inglese da nobile inglese fine 800, quelli altri 30 cm!!). Ci sono poi molte bancarelle che vendono cibi esotici oltre che classici humberger o fish and chips. Camdem Lock Market è cosi grande che si divide in diversi mercati indoor e outdoor.Tra questi (non voglio nominarli tutti non me li ricordo c'è) Stables Market. Il luogo una volta era un ospedale per i cavalli.Non mi ricordo a che servissero precisamente i cavalli in quel luogo, lo ho letto ma non me lo ricordo.All'interno del mercato c'è uno spazio destinato all'intrattenimento il "Proud Camden". E' un luogo per intrattenimento dove è presente un palco dove gruppi musicali si esibiscono. Noi siamo andati li verso le 16.00 e c'era dia un gruppo che si stava esibendo (me ne intendo poco di musica, ma erano bravi secondo me).Il palco è famoso in quanto si sono esibiti in passato cantanti che poi sono diventati popolari tra questi (si legge nel sito web): Jessie J, Peter Doherty, Dizzee Rascal, The Kooks, Stereophonics, e Johnny Borrell . Di fronte al palco ci sono diversi divanetti dove si può gustare una birra in tranqullità ascoltando la musica. Il posto è arricchito da quadri con foto con artisti famosi degli anni passati e presenti ( ho visto anche una foto di Ian Curtis dei Joy Division!, per chi non lo conoscesse suggerisco il film "Control"). All'interno di questo spazio a destra del palco dopo il piano bar (sempre a destra del palco) c'erano le stalle dove erano posizionati i cavalli feriti. Gli spazi sono rimasti gli stessi ma sono stati riadattati: adesso all'interno delle singole stanze sono spazi che possono essere affittati privatamente per stare in compagnia di amici in una situaizone "quasi" privata. All'interno di questi spazi, che sono arredati a tema differtne l'uno dall'altro, sono presenti schermi TV, con possibilità di vedere incontri sportivi, videogioci per PS3 per divertisi e inoltre bevande e cibi caldi a richiesta. Noi quando siamo andati li abbiamo visto che c'era un addio al nubilato, la porta della "stalla" era chiusa, ma si poteva intravedere tutto dalle finestre a sbarre.
Abbiamo visto poi tra le tante stanze una che era arredata con un palo al centro come un locale lap-dance.

Successivamente ho visto che il locale presenta anche un giardino esterno ed un ristornate, ma non ci siamo andati, siamo rimasti ad ascoltare musica e bere birra.

Last week I went to London to visit a friend.
I visit London on average once a year.
At least in the last 6 years. London is the city that I know better outside of Italy.
I was a guest (as always) in my friend's place.
This time I was a guest in a different area. To the east, close to Old Street underground station.
Usually I was on the west, South Kensington, Earls Court, or in the center, Piccadilly, May Fair.
But never to the west.
Among the various exposed areas (I can not list all), there is Candem Town.
I knew that I would be invited to see this neighborhood, but I did not know precisely what was and what was there. Someone told me about the past, but it described him as a market full of people and I had not been persuaded to go.
This time, because the proximity to Old Street, there was no escape. I went there.
And I was very impressed and a little disappointed not to be gone there before.It was amazing.
Camden Town is located near Regent's Canal, a canal built in the early 1800's to facilitate the communication of north London with the rest of the country.
In the past,during the Victorian era, Camden Town was a dangerous place frequented by gangsters . It 's always been popular with Irish immigrants and Oriental Jews.
From the 70 becomes a place frequented by trendy artists and students.
Today is a very fashionable tourist district where the market Camden Market is the main attraction.
In the main street (Camden High Street) there are shops and stalls selling very special souvenirs and items of clothing and furniture, for example t-shirt with lights that turn on and off to the rhythm of music, leather dark clothing like Neo (Keanu Reeves) in the movie Matrix second; vintage clothing, dresses up as witches or goblins (and that's not because is carnival time now! but always!).
At the end of the street (Camden High Street) near the locks, starts Camden Lock (you can not miss it, there is a giant mural that says "Camden Lock") a market of abnormal size.The market has existed since 1973 and consists of than stalls selling everything you could already be present in stores that I have described, they sell used clothes, handicrafts products multi-ethnic, art, modern art, hats sui generis (I was very tempted to buy a classic English cylinder for English nobleman from the end 800). There are many stalls selling exotic foods as well as classics humberger or fish and chips. Camden Lock Market is so great that it is divided into different markets and indoor outdoor.
Stables Market is one of them. The place was once a hospital for horses. the horses help to pull the canal barges. Inside the market there is a space for enter the "Proud Camden". It' s a place for entertainment where there is a stage where bands perform live. We went there at about 16.00 and was giving a group who was performing. Many popular singers had preformed in the past among these (says the website): Jessie J, Peter Doherty, Dizzee Rascal, The Kooks, Stereophonics, and Johnny Borrell. In front of the stage there are several benches where you can enjoy a beer peace of mind while listening to music. The place is decorated with paintings of photos with famous artists of past and present (I also saw a picture of Ian Curtis of Joy Division!, for those who doesn’t know him suggest the movie "Control"). In Proud Camden on the right the stage after the bar, there are the stables where the horses were placed injured. Spaces have remained the same but were rearranged: now in the individual rooms that are many rooms that can be rented privately for being in the company of friends. All 'inside these spaces, which are furnished themed different each other, there are TV screens, you can watch sporting events, Videogames PS3 and also on request hot drinks and food. We went there and we saw there was a bachelorette party, the door of the "barn" was closed, but you could see everything from the barred windows.
We saw then that one of the many rooms was furnished with a pole at the center as a local lap-dancing.

Then I saw that the room also features an outdoor garden and a restaurant, but there we went, we were listening to music and drink beer.
